New noise profile sets

Many new profile sets have been created and submitted to the profile library by generous users of Neat Image. We thank all the contributors who build new profiles for the community of Neat Image users. Please also participate in building new profiles for new models of digital cameras and scanners. Using the Batch Profiler in Neat Image, you can easily and quickly build a profile set for your camera. Please see the user guide (specifically, the "Device noise profiles" section) for additional information.

ABSoft is pleased to announce the release a new line of digital noise reduction products: Neat Video.

Neat Video is a filter designed to reduce visible noise and grain in digital video sequences. Neat Video is based on the technology developed in the Neat Image project. Neat Image has been setting the standard in image noise reduction for several years already and we hope that Neat Video will be just as successful in the field of video processing.

Neat Video utilizes advanced noise reduction algorithms that take into account noise characteristics of particular video capturing devices. This allows Neat Video to draw a clear distinction between noise and details in individual video frames and to reduce only noise elements. In addition, Neat Video offers a powerful temporal filter to further reduce noise and grain by analysing consequent frames.

Neat Video is specifically developed with modern video processing in mind. Neat Video fits into common video procesing workflows based on such well-known tools as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, and VirtualDub.

Pricing and Availability

Neat Video currently is only available for the Windows platform as a plug-in for Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro and VirtualDub. Mac versions of Neat Video are currently being developed too.

• Full support for dual-core and multi-core processors
  Neat Image is now able to utilize all available processors when processing each image, which in effect makes filtration 1.5-1.9 times faster on dual-core systems and even faster on multi-core machines (this is especially beneficial in the plug-in version of the filter)

New in Neat Image v5.0 (Win) is significantly improved quality and efficiency of noise reduction, stronger integration with the latest image editors and enhanced usability.

Renowned for its noise reduction quality, Neat Image is used by photographers all over the world as a tool that turns noisy photos and grainy scans into clean and neat digital images.

Realizing the critical importance of high-quality noise reduction in low light (night, indoors) and high speed (sport, action) photography, new Neat Image employs significantly enhanced and optimized noise reduction algorithms. These algorithms use refined device noise profiles to more accurately reflect camera or scanner characteristics and to draw a more clear distinction between noise and details in digital images. Background

Since the beginning of the digital imaging era, digital noise and digitized film grain have always been unwelcome parts of many digital photos and scans because of imperfect physical nature of the underlying light-capturing processes. While the hardware manufactures have always been trying to improve these processes, Neat Image software is designed to work with the available output produced by the modern hardware: noisy high ISO digital shots and scans of grainy film. Neat Image greatly improves the visual quality of such digital images by reducing the objectionable noise and grain and at the same time preserving the real image details.

Neat Image was initially introduced to the market in 2001 and quickly became the de facto standard in noise reduction for digital photography thanks to the top quality of noise reduction delivered by the tool.

The top quality noise reduction has been made possible by using device noise profiles – a novel concept originally introduced by Neat Image. A device noise profile is a reusable analysis of noise properties of an image acquisition device.
